Chris Hall has a comprehensive look at the speed of Acorn/RISC OS systems over time, and how various parts of the hardware have inceased overall speed. His main focus was looking at the Pi Compute Module 4 which, in the guise of the FAST system from RISCOSbits, can give one of the fastest current sytems for a very reasonable price.
